The tech branch provides a focused pathway for students in tech, or interested in tech. We provide specialized networks, mentorship, and building experience for Muslim students here at UT.
Our mission is to prepare the next generation of Muslim engineers and computer scientists to thrive in their careers while serving their communities.
Access
MPS connects students with local companies through speakers, visits, alumni, and direct introductions.
The point is simple: MPS gives students access to Austin's company network, and sometimes turns that access into a concrete next step.
Last year, a member of the Alif VC team came to speak with MPS Tech members.
MPS connected two Finance members and one Tech member with an opportunity with Atom.
Events
Step inside Austin companies and see how their teams build, collaborate, and hire.
Ask candid questions of founders, investors, engineers, and operators.
Turn the MPS network into mentors, introductions, and real opportunities.
MPS Tech hosts company visits and guest speakers throughout the year, with an emphasis on Austin's technology and startup community.
The format includes smaller conversations where members can ask direct questions about careers, startups, investing, and the day-to-day work inside a company.
Foundry
Foundry is the hands-on core of MPS Tech. Student teams work on a semester-long project scoped with a company partner, receive feedback along the way, and build something they can show an employer — presented at a showcase at the end of the semester.
Cross-functional teams: Work with students across technology, finance, and other majors.
Real partner problems: Build around a challenge scoped with a company, not a classroom prompt.
Mentor feedback: Get guidance as your team researches, builds, and improves the work.
A stronger portfolio: Leave with work you can demo and discuss in interviews.
A Y Combinator–backed company
Foundry members have worked with a Y Combinator–backed startup through an MPS project partnership, building against a problem the company actually cared about.
